Lubbock Christian University concert aids local no-kill animal shelter

LUBBOCK, Texas–The Lubbock Christian University (LCU) Band will host their fourth annual benefit concert supporting The Haven Animal Shelter on Tuesday, October 15, at 6:30 p.m. on the steps of the McDonald Moody Auditorium on the LCU campus.

The Haven is a no-kill, non-profit animal shelter located just east of Lubbock, providing care and shelter for more than 100 dogs and cats. The first benefit concert was held in 2022 to raise awareness of the Haven’s mission and help connect local families with animals seeking their forever homes.

This year’s concert will feature performances by the LCU Symphonic Band, the newly reinstated Jazz Ensemble, and the Percussion Ensemble. Audiences can expect familiar tunes such as The Girl from Ipanema, Route 66 and music by Duke Ellington, along with Catherine Likhuta’s Friends for Life, a piece that celebrates memories of beloved pets…
