Boeing completes F-15C upgrades for US Air Force

Boeing’s Government Services team has finished upgrades for 37 US Air Force (USAF) F-15C Eagle jets at the Louisiana Air National Guard Base in New Orleans. The F-15Cs have undergone critical subsystem changes to maintain longevity.

Why it matters:

  • The system modifications are crucial for aging aircraft to retain readiness for an evolving battlefield.
  • The milestone marks the end of a four-year mission to enhance combat capability and secure communications for the F-15Cs.

A dedicated team: The installation process, which takes approximately 62 days per aircraft, was carried out by 30 Boeing teammates, most of whom are military veterans.

  • “The dedication of our mostly veteran team, coupled with advanced computing technology, ensures the F-15C aircraft remains relevant well into the 2030s until the F-15C is divested from the United States Air Force inventory. This project exemplifies the power of partnership and sets the stage for future capabilities and innovation,” said Ryan Hudson, F-15 Modification manager, in a Boeing news release.

Upgrade details: The team installed the Advanced Display Core Processor (ADCP) II and the Multi-Function Information Distribution System – Joint Tactical Radio System (MIDS-JTRS).

  • The ADCP-II enhances mission computer processing capabilities, while MIDS-JTRS provides secure communications.

Readiness for the future: As the F-15C fleet approaches five decades of service, modernization efforts are vital to sustainment.

  • The ADCP-II and MIDS-JTRS upgrades provide the technological foundation necessary for the F-15C to meet the demands of modern warfare and maintain superiority on the battlefield.
