UNM Hospital nurse killed in crash, confusion in court over suspect’s actions

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – A local healer was killed on the streets of Albuquerque Thursday night, cutting short what could have been a long and promising career. 28-year-old Alec Montoya, a nurse at University of New Mexico Hospital, had recently graduated from the University.

Montoya was crossing the street Thursday night on Lomas and Stanford near UNM hospital when police say 42-year-old Brian Boyce hit Montoya with his car.
