Wet weekend ahead with showers, storms

This morning spotty showers are moving throughout the metro area and counties in western New Mexico. This morning lows have dipped into the lower 60s and upper 50s in and around Albuquerque with cloudier skies. Today, scattered showers and possible thunderstorms are expected to move through New Mexico and southern Colorado. This line may bring heavy rainfall to western and central counties across the state. A Flood Watch for excessive rainfall is currently place, that was issued from the National Weather Service, for San Juan, McKinley, Montezuma and La Plata counties. Another Flood Watch will be issued this afternoon and last through Sunday afternoon for Grant, Hidalgo and a portion of Sierra County.

Cloud coverage may suppress thunderstorm activity for Saturday and Sunday; however, the supply of moisture is from the remnants of former Tropical Storm Priscilla and the current Tropical Storm Raymond. The remnants of Raymond will also supply sufficient moisture for scattered shower and thunderstorm development through early next week. A backdoor cold front on Monday will also be a catalyst for the potential for wet weather and also cooler high temperatures.

In regard to Balloon Fiesta, the chance for the showers, and a possible storm, are still around for this evening as showers push in from the west. Breezy winds aloft are expected this morning, which will likely be an issue for balloons for mass ascension. Tomorrow morning the chance for rain still persists, again, with breezier winds expected aloft. Aside from the wet weather conditions will also be cloudy and breezy on Saturday with mild low temperatures sticking around for Sunday morning. Have a great weekend!…
