Springfield junior Grace Prowse fired consecutive rounds of 71 on Thursday and Friday to finish two-over par and beat Central Magnet’s Lauren Powell by four strokes to win the Class A girls golf tournament.
The win is Springfield’s first golf state championship and just the third in school history for any sport, joining the 1993 Springfield football team and boys wrestler Travis Kirby in 1989.
