CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville Christian Centurions hosted the South Haven Lady Patriots on Friday night for the TSIAA North District 2 semifinals. The Centurions swept the Patriots 3-0 to advance to the championship game on Saturday against the Academy of G.O.D.

The Centurions started their first postseason game hot, scoring the first six points of the contest. They built up a 21-10 lead in the first set, and eventually won it 25-18. The second set was more of a slow build-up, but again the Centurions were up 19-11, and won the set 25-17. However, the last set was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams trading blows, before the Centurions pulled away for a 25-22 set win, completing the sweep.

“We didn’t have our best stuff, but we were able to execute when it mattered,” said Centurions head coach Martha Sheffield. “This team is young, but they’re starting to trust each other and the system. There’s not one person who stands out, and that’s part of what makes us good. That’s why we’ve gotten to this point: They’ve got each other’s backs in every scenario.”

The Centurions have never won a district title in program history, so this squad is one game away from making some serious history on Saturday. Regardless of the championship result, it is not an elimination game, and the goal for the Centurions is the same as it’s been all season: to hoist a gold ball at the end…
