ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Newly-released video shows the moments police arrested an Albuquerque man accused of lying to officers about his car being stolen. But police are quickly able to piece together what they think actually happened.
On September 22, 37-year-old Alfredo Torres called police, saying his silver Honda was stolen. Soon after, police responded to reports of a car crash involving that same car. Police found the vehicle in southeast Albuquerque and saw that the airbags were deployed, and a white truck was damaged in a crash as well.
APD interviewed the owner of the truck, and they said a man wearing a white shirt was seen running away from the scene. When police started interviewing Torres and his girlfriend, they realized neither of them had their story straight…
