Molalla Man Sentenced to 113 Months for String of Crimes in Clackamas County

A Molalla man has been serving a composite sentence of 113 months in prison following a succession of crimes that spanned robbery, vehicle theft, identity theft, and a failure to perform his duties at an injury accident scene, as reported by Clackamas County News. Alex James Raphun, 31, faced sentencing in Clackamas County Circuit Court, encompassing three separate cases.

In a sequence of events that unfolded in early 2023, Raphun engaged in a police chase while driving a stolen car before abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot on Interstate 205; while possessed identification belonging to others. Earlier this year, a jury convicted Raphun on charges which included Unlawful Use of a Vehicle, Identity Theft, Reckless Driving, and two counts of Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, earning him a 43-month sentence (Clackamas County Circuit Court case 23CR11863).

During his conviction, it was reported by Clackamas County News that Raphun was already facing charges in two additional cases. Today, he had entered guilty pleas for both. In one scenario from May 2023, Raphun robbed a Happy Valley deli at gunpoint—for $450 using what turned out to be a toy gun—also making away with a woman’s purse, before fleeing the scene on a scooter.
