Our guest speaker was Mayor Will Haynie, who has been in that office representing Mount Pleasant since 2017. Mayor Haynie was introduced by his good friend, former Charleston mayor and fellow Rotarian John Tecklenburg. He talked about the progress and challenges of Mount Pleasant, one of the fastest growing cities in the country and highly ranked for its quality of life. He discussed the importance of collaboration among the leaders of the various cites across the Lowcountry, which led to his strong friendship with Mayor Teck. And the mayor emphasized his commitment to controlled growth, safety and protecting the environment.
