Walker County has successfully maintained its 3/3Y ISO fire protection rating following an intensive review of fire services in the county’s unincorporated areas and within the city limits of Chickamauga. This classification, awarded by the Insurance Services Office (ISO), is among the highest attainable by fire departments and plays a critical role in determining insurance rates for homeowners and business owners.
The continued 3/3Y rating positions Walker County in the top 12% of communities nationwide for fire protection, ranking ahead of more than 37,800 other jurisdictions evaluated by ISO. With one being the best possible score and ten indicating no recognized fire protection, a 3 rating signifies that the county’s fire services are highly capable and well-resourced.
ISO’s evaluation process is both rigorous and comprehensive.
