In this column last Sunday, I wrote that there would be an update this week on the five kittens and their mother, Hope, that have been in my care for several weeks.
Thanks to two friends, Ruth Anne Walsh and Karen Miller, the kittens were moved to the enclosed front porch and Hope has visitation twice a day and all night.
Why are the darlings still in my care instead of being taken to the Toledo Humane Society? They are not yet socialized. Socialization is a key word when the kittens are given to the Humane Society. They are not accepted if they are not socialized. But it is not easy. As adorable as they are, the little fellows are wild and require several one- on-one petting sessions to convince them you’re okay. I was surprised they weren’t tamer because Hope is friendly and likes attention, especially when she sees a bowl of food…
