Volleyball Reverse Sweeps CUSA Newcomer Missouri State

JACKSONVILLE – Jax State volleyball reverse swept Conference USA newcomers Missouri State Friday night for a 3-2 home triumph to remain unbeaten so far in Pete Mathews Coliseum.

The Gamecocks dropped the first two sets to the visitors from Springfield, Mo., but gained back momentum with a 25-19 third set victory. Jax State tied the match at two sets apiece with a dominant 25-13 fourth set win. In the fifth, the Gamecocks used a 15-7 win to clinch the match.

Outside hitter Kayla Williams continued to be a force offensively as she has all season with a team-best and new season-high 27 kills. Freshman hitter Amaya Tolentino set a new career-high with 16 kills. Sanni Rantanen joined Tolentino and Williams in double-digits with 10 kills…
