Children’s Hospital Colorado seeks hand-tied blanket donations: How to donate

DENVER (KDVR) — A Colorado children’s hospital is asking for hand-tied blanket donations in order to bring comfort to children receiving care.

The Children’s Hospital Colorado said Thursday that it is in urgent need of fleece hand-tied blankets, which are given and kept by patients during their stay. The blankets are offered by the Association of Volunteers.

“Choosing a blanket gives kids a moment of control in a setting where choices are often limited. It’s a small act that makes a big impact, helping children feel special and supported,” said Children’s Hospital Colorado in a press release.

What materials are needed

Making a DIY hand-tied blanket might seem daunting, but it’s simpler than people might think, as it doesn’t require any sewing — just a little time and patience.

According to the children’s hospital DIY instructions, all a person needs in order to make the polar fleece blanket is scissors, large safety pins, cardboard, printed fleece fabric and solid fleece fabric.
