Greeley, CO: Suspect Fatally Shot After Allegedly Brandishing Gun, Officials Say

Greeley, CO – Authorities are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred Friday afternoon in Garden City, just south of Greeley, according to a statement released by the Weld County Sheriff’s Office on behalf of the 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT).

The incident took place around 4:25 p.m. on October 10 in the 600 block of 27th Street Road, where Greeley police officers attempted to arrest a man wanted on misdemeanor and felony warrants. Investigators said the suspect fled on foot, prompting a chase. Officers reportedly used less-lethal impact rounds in an effort to subdue him, but the man did not surrender.

According to the CIRT release, the suspect brandished a firearm during the pursuit, leading officers to fire their weapons. The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased
