SNL Skit About Officials Gets Government Attention

Additional Coverage:

Well, folks, it looks like Saturday Night Live certainly got people talking this past weekend! The long-running sketch comedy show pulled out all the stops for its cold open, bringing in comedy titans Amy Poehler and Tina Fey to poke some fun at political figures Pam Bondi and Kristi Noem.

Poehler, making a triumphant return, embodied U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, fresh off her lengthy and rather… feisty…

Senate Judiciary Committee session. If you watched the real-life proceedings, you know Bondi spent a good five hours deftly sidestepping questions about things like former FBI chief James Comey, the Epstein files, and immigration, all while frequently reminding everyone about the government shutdown.

SNL’s take? Priceless.

Poehler’s Bondi kicked things off with a sassy, “What’s up, nerds? My name is Pam Bondi.

I spell it with an ‘I’ ’cause ‘I ain’t gonna answer any of your questions.’ My time is valuable.”

The sketch perfectly mirrored the real deal, showing Poehler’s Bondi dodging inquiries from bewildered senators and even consulting a “reference sheet” of pre-written insults-a hilarious nod to a leaked photo of Bondi’s actual notes during the hearing. “Before I don’t answer, I’d like to insult you personally,” she quipped, perfectly capturing the original’s combative spirit.

But wait, there’s more! Tina Fey then made her grand entrance as Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, complete with some standout prosthetics and, get this, a large assault rifle.

Her first move? Casually tossing the weapon aside with a “Hold my gun.”

Fey’s Noem was a masterclass in deadpan humor, declaring, “That’s right, it’s me, Kristi Noem. I spell my name with an ‘I’ because that’s how I thought it was spelled.

And I’m the rarest type of person in Washington, D.C. – a brunette that Donald Trump listens to.” She then launched into a passionate, South Dakota-accented plea for the “Democrat government shutdown” to end.

Even the Department of Homeland Security got in on the action! Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin echoed Noem’s sentiment in a statement, saying, “SNL is absolutely right – the Democrats’ shutdown does need to end!”

And of course, the sketch couldn’t resist a playful jab at Noem’s recent admission about shooting her family dog. Fey’s Noem deadpanned, “Ha, that makes me laugh more than the end of Old Yeller,” before adding, “Dogs don’t just get shot. Heroes shoot them.”

Turns out, not everyone was upset by the parody! Pam Bondi herself took to X (formerly Twitter) to share her delight, tagging Kristi Noem and writing, “should we recreate this picture in Chicago?

Loving Amy Poehler!” alongside a photo of Poehler and Fey in character.

Looks like some public figures appreciate a good laugh, even when it’s at their own expense!
