Maryland Casino Revenue Down 5% In September

Maryland has posted a fourth consecutive month of revenue declines in casino gambling, with The Old Line State’s six casinos experiencing a 5% annual decline in September. MGM National Harbor and Live! Casino Hotel, the largest casinos by revenue, saw the biggest declines. The declining revenue led to a 10.7% decline in tax revenues given to the state.

Maryland has six regulated retail casinos. The state also allows regulated online sports betting and state lotteries. Online casino gambling has not been regulated. However, online gambling remains popular with players. Offshore, crypto, and sweepstakes casinos offer viable alternatives, as well as CSGO gambling sites, which enable players to bet skins and other in-game items in the hope of getting higher-quality, rarer loot.

However, as Maryland’s physical casinos continue to struggle, calls for iGaming regulation have grown. The state’s six retail casinos pulled in $151.5m in September – down 5% compared to the same period in 2024.
