At the heart of it, the purpose of Town Crier Productions is to present information about policy choices coming up before local officials. A prominent conviction during my entire 30-year career in journalism is that community members understand more when they look first to local government before turning on the national news.

In a healthy democracy, people should be able to get information about what’s happening from third-party sources not directly connected to the government. I spent eleven years working for an organization originally created to deliver information on how land use planning worked until there was a management shift and I stepped away.
