October is archeology month and Executive Director Chris Manning said there’s a lot of exciting things going on at the tavern to celebrate. Ohio Valley Archeology has been at the tavern since last Tuesday actually going underneath the floorboards of the structures that survived the fire, uncovering artifacts. “A lot of people have been really curious about what’s going on at the Overfield, and so this is a good opportunity to come to the site. They’ve found all kinds of really amazing things. They have found coins including an 1817 50 cent piece that may have been used by somebody who visited the tavern. We have found some prehistoric Native American artifacts as well in the deeper layers. So all kinds of stuff coming out of the ground,” Manning said…
