Rain, wind, and gray skies today
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – I’ll be honest with you, it’s just a nasty day out there across Jacksonville and all the nearby neighborhoods. The rain is relentless, the wind is howling, and everywhere you look, the sky stays cloudy and gray.
I know you, like me, might want to stay inside and ride it out. This storm is putting a damper on plans, but sometimes, a lazy day is just what we need.
Choppy waters, bridge closure, and more
Let’s talk specifics on what’s happening around our area. Yesterday, the Bridge of Lions in St. Augustine had to close due to tidal flooding—definitely one of the more dramatic impacts of this weekend’s system. I also checked our live cams and saw choppy, white-topped waves at St. Augustine Marina and Doctors Lake Marina. Winds have been steady around 13 mph, with temperatures in the low 60s this morning.
If you’re near Jacksonville Beach, just know the surf has been especially rough, and fog has made it look even hazier than usual. At 501 Riverside, it’s just been cloudy, wet, and honestly a little gloomy, all confirmed by our Exact Track 4D radar grabs. And it’s not just the rivers and beaches—JAX Airport and Morningstar Marinas are showing plenty of gusty wind too.
Looking ahead: Weekend weather forecast
Here’s what you can expect moving forward. Today’s rain and gusty conditions are likely to hang around, but there’s a light at the end of this tunnel—things are expected to start clearing up tomorrow morning…
