‘That we’re even having to go through this is unbelievable.’ Convicted killer set to be resentenced in Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. — A convicted killer will once again face his victim’s families in a Spokane courtroom as he is set to be resentenced Monday. Justin Crenshaw murdered 18-year-old Sarah Clark and 20-year-old Tanner Pehl in 2008.

A bloody fingerprint tied Crenshaw to the brutal crime. After stabbing the victims, investigators say he then set Pehl’s mother’s home on fire. Crenshaw was a mere acquaintance of the victims and was relatively new to the Spokane area. Tanner’s loved ones say precious family mementos were used to stage the crime scene.

“Justin had ransacked the house making it look like a robbery,” Tanner’s sister Katie said in a 2021 interview. “Everything was in disarray. Our whole childhood was on the floor and there (were) blood and bloody footprints everywhere. He also did very sadistic things. He took every picture off the wall, every single picture that my mom had up of all of us and he had placed them all down. Almost like he didn’t want people looking at him.”…
