‘It’s about confidence’: Gee addresses recession fears as Seattle housing market tumbles

A new Chamber of Commerce survey revealed that 80% of Seattle voters believe we are headed toward a recession, aligning with a report from MarketWatch that listed Washington among 22 other states showing signs of a recession.

Meanwhile, median home prices across Seattle’s metro region have dropped approximately $630,000, down 3% from last month, according to Northwest Multiple Listing Service.

“This is really about confidence. Once our confidence starts to wane a little bit, we start seeing rising rents, and grocery bills start climbing,” KIRO host Gee Scott said on “The Gee and Ursula Show” on KIRO Newsradio. “When we start seeing all of these things keep up at a higher pace than our paychecks, that’s when the economy truly is heading towards a recession. When we believe that a recession is coming, then we start to make cutbacks.”…
