RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — Former Palmetto State Bank CEO Russell Laffitte was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to a slew of state financial crime charges.
Laffitte faced eight charges that stemmed from three South Carolina state grand jury indictments, including criminal conspiracy, breach of trust, and computer crime.
During Monday’s hearing in Richland County, Judge Heath Taylor sentenced Laffitte to a total of 13 years, including eight years of active time, to be run concurrently with his federal sentence. Therefore, Laffitte will spend five years in state prison “once he finishes his active component, which will be suspended upon the service of five years’ state probation and 350 hours of community service,” the SC Attorney General’s Office said…
