Spotty light showers wrap up; Tropical Storm Lorenzo forms

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — It was a very rainy weekend in the area, with multiple flash flood warnings issued. Parts of Georgetown County have seen 6 to 10 inches of rain since Friday night. Another 4 to 6 inches fell in Horry County and 3 to 5 inches inland. Florence, Lumberton, and N. Myrtle Beach’s local airports saw new daily rainfall records for Oct. 12 at 3.51″, 1.73″, 3.29″, respectively.

Clouds and light showers will continue to spiral around a low-pressure system offshore. Rain will be spotty and light throughout the morning but will come to a close this afternoon. It will remain breezy through the first part of the day, with gusts near 25 to 30 mph, but it will calm down tonight. It will be a little warmer today with highs of 72 to 75 degrees. Overnight lows will fall into the mid- and upper 50s by Tuesday morning.

Tuesday through the rest of the week will feature mostly sunny skies, and we’ll see a nice warm up through Wednesday with coastal highs in the mid- to upper 70s. A few areas inland could reach 80 by Wednesday. A backdoor cold front will slide through the area on Thursday, knocking high temperatures back into the low 70s across the coast and inland, and nighttime temperatures even into the 40s! We stay that way on Friday as well…
