As another No Kings protest weekend looms, Conroe leaders have pushed back a decision on whether to require permits for downtown protests, a move that would not have impacted Oct. 18 events even if a proposed ordinance had moved forward.
Still, some residents who spoke against the ordinance before the city council last week said they believe it would specifically target protests like No Kings, and that it would violate protesters’ First Amendment rights.
