Blewett Pass reopens after brief closure due to heavy snowfall

BLEWETT PASS — US-97 over Blewett Pass reopened after a brief closure Monday morning due to heavy snowfall, disabled semis and collisions.

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) announced the closure of US-97 in both directions at the summit at 6:30 a.m. Washington State Patrol confirmed that “multiple disabled semis” were blocking the road. The pass was reopened by 10 a.m.

Snow began to fall in the Cascades over the weekend, with more forecasted through Monday morning. National Weather Service Spokane forecasted eight to 12 inches of snow to fall over Blewett Pass over Sunday night and into Monday morning, expecting it to be “one of the hardest hit passes.”…
