Columbus Gas Prices Plummet 25 Cents in a Week, Akron and Cleveland Follow Suit as National Average Teeters Near $3

Gas prices across Columbus have experienced a significant drop in the past week, with the average price now standing at $2.77 per gallon. This figure represents a notable decrease of 25.2 cents from the previous week. The decrease in prices could quickly provide relief for motorists, with the most affordable station listed at $2.22 and the most expensive at $3.19 on Sunday, further solidifying the apparent downward trend in fuel costs.

Akron’s average price per gallon plunged 24.5 cents to reach $2.72, while in Cleveland, the average is now $2.80 after a 20.2-cent decline, as reported by WKYC. This decrease in gas prices comes at a time when the national average also fell by 6.4 cents to average at $3.02 per gallon, seemingly poised to potentially drop below the $3 threshold soon.

The current pricing shifts are in line with what analysts have observed at a national scale. “Americans appear to be on the cusp of seeing the national average drop below $3 per gallon for the first time in years, as prices have fallen across the vast majority of the country,” Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, told NBC4i.
