Birmingham area water customers could get a break on their bills: Here’s why.

Customers of Birmingham’s regional water system are likely to get a price break with no planned rate increase in 2026.

Central Alabama Water leaders met in a work session Monday to go over details of the utility’s proposed 2026 budget. A major highlight is that the utility does not anticipate a rate increase for the 770,000 customers in Jefferson, Shelby, Blount, St. Clair and Walker Counties.
