LAPD-Involved Shooting: Police stop suspect after he allegedly kills man in Downtown

A man accused of shooting and killing another man last week in Downtown LA was arrested after police on-scene engaged in a foot pursuit and used less-lethal rounds against him.

The shooting took place near 5th and Los Angeles streets on Oct. 6, according to the Los Angeles Police Department, close to The Baltimore and The King Edward housing complexes. The officers came across the shooting at around 3:20 p.m., and they found a man fatally wounded by gunfire.

Police engaged with the suspect, chasing the individual for about a block to the 4th and Spring streets intersection. Police fired at the suspect who they saw was holding a handgun. The officers used less-lethal kinetic projectiles in the altercation and paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department took the suspect to the hospital. As of publication, the man killed in the shooting has not been identified, and there is no known motive for the attack.
