Homeless man beats cars and mailboxes with metal bat, police say

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Residents in a Spring Hill neighborhood are startled after a homeless man allegedly went ballistic with a bat on the morning of Oct. 13.

Investigators said 41-year-old William Chestang damaged cars and mailboxes on Drury Lane after 1 a.m. One neighbor sent me this photo of his car after he said Chestang used a metal bat to shatter his back car window, spraying glass onto his driveway and even leaving a dent in his mailbox.

Other mailboxes next door taking a hit as well.

Another resident on Drury Lane who doesn’t want to be identified said she was woken up by a loud hammering noise, and when she looked outside, she saw the suspect swinging…
