IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. (WROC) — When an alarm call jolted Sips Coffee and Café owner Lauren Hollesen awake Saturday evening, she didn’t know what to expect.
By the time she arrived at her Irondequoit shop, the front door had been smashed open. Thieves had cut the wires to the point-of-sale system, grabbed the cash drawer, and fled before police arrived.
“It all happened so fast,” Hollesen said. “They just broke in through the front door and real quickly grabbed the cash register and point-of-sale system. I think they got scared away by the alarm, because it’s kind of scary and loud.”
No one was hurt, and the damage wasn’t severe. But for Hollesen and her team, it was still heartbreaking. Sips had to stay closed Sunday to replace what was taken and repair what was broken…
