Firefighters from across North Texas converged on Frisco’s Public Safety Training Center this week, not to battle blazes but to test their skills in the North Texas Tiller Round-Up. The event, hosted by the Frisco Fire Department, saw teams from several regional fire departments, including McKinney, Irving, Carrollton, and Lake Cities, take on a variety of driving courses designed specifically for tiller trucks – those long fire trucks steered from both ends.
The participating squads faced off in a series of challenges, which included a backing box, serpentine course, lane change challenge, alley dock, and a comprehensive road course. This hands-on experience is crucial for firefighters to practice the precision and coordination required to navigate these large vehicles in high-pressure situations.
