WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Wichita Fire Department dressed in superhero costumes to surprise pediatric and burn patients at Ascension Via Christi on Monday.
Firefighters waved to patients from an aerial bucket to cheer on those who cannot go out and celebrate Halloween.
“When we go in there, those kids completely go crazy; they almost forget that they’re at the hospital,” Capt. Lance Diffenbaugh said. “… These walls get pretty tight in this hospital, so if anything we can do to make them feel a little bit safer and better, it’s what we’re trying to do.”
