“Golden Bachelor” Gerry Turner Issues Warning to Ex Theresa Nist Ahead of Memoir Release

Gerry Turner, the beloved star of the inaugural “Golden Bachelor,” is preparing to unveil his tell-all memoir, “Golden Years,” slated for an early November release. And it seems his ex-wife, Theresa Nist, might want to brace herself. Turner recently issued a pointed warning, suggesting the book’s contents could be quite revealing for her.

“I’m not worried; I think she should be worried,” Turner stated during a recent interview, hinting at the intimate details of his relationship with Nist that will be chronicled in the book. He shared that the memoir will delve into his own role in their short-lived marriage, candidly admitting to personal shortcomings.

“I was a bit naive; I was a bad listener. I didn’t probe well enough, and that’s both for my sake and for Theresa’s. Had I been better at some of those areas, maybe there would have been a different end,” he reflected.

From “I Do” to Divorce in Three Months

Turner and Nist captured the hearts of many during their journey on the ABC reality dating series, culminating in a televised wedding in January 2024. However, their union was brief.

Just three months later, in April 2024, Turner filed for divorce in his hometown, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The couple had previously announced their split on national television, and their divorce was finalized in June 2024.

Despite the past, Turner maintains no regrets, emphasizing that the experiences ultimately led him to his current happiness. “In the big picture, I’m happy that it all happened the way it did, because it got me to where I am,” he explained, referring to his recent engagement to Lana Sutton.

A Life-Altering Diagnosis and New Perspective

Adding another complex layer to his narrative, Turner recently disclosed that he had been diagnosed with Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia, a type of bone marrow cancer, in March. This diagnosis, he revealed, significantly impacted his decisions, including the end of his marriage to Nist.

“There’s a topic that I haven’t wanted to talk about until now,” Turner had previously explained. “As Theresa and I were trying very hard to find our lifestyle and where we were going to live and how we were going to make our life work, I was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer.”

Turner, who shared that there is “no cure” for his condition, described the news as “10 tons of concrete” dropping on him. This life-altering health challenge spurred a profound shift in his perspective. He resolved to “not say ‘no’ to anything,” embracing every opportunity for travel, fun, and new experiences, determined to live life to the fullest.

Finding Love and Purpose with Lana Sutton

This renewed zest for life now includes his fiancée, Lana Sutton. Turner praises Sutton for her vibrant energy, logical thinking, and shared approach to life.

“She has more energy than I do… I really think she’s a more logical thinker than I am,” he noted, adding, “The nice part is we think and we approach things very similarly, so we don’t have any conflicts as we’re trying to make decisions.”

“With Lana now in the picture, she makes [life] even better. It’s so good to have a partner that understands and is in it with you 100%,” Turner expressed. “It took me a while to get to this point, but I’m pretty happy with where I am.”
