UPDATE: Two Major I-840 Incidents in One Week – Traffic Delays and a Deadly Collision

(MIDDLE TENNESSEE) We now have more details on an accident that occurred on I-840 this past Tuesday evening. The wreck involved a tractor-trailer that was traveling in the eastbound lanes near the Rutherford/Wilson County line at mile marker 69.

A Toyota Sequoia driven by 24-year-old Kevin Jackson was headed toward Lebanon on I-840 when, for unknown reasons, it ran off the roadway and into the center median. Jackson’s SUV then entered the oncoming westbound lanes of I-840, where it impacted the big rig. After colliding with the 18-wheeler, both the SUV and the larger truck, which was hauling a full-size trailer, came to a final rest in the middle of the westbound lanes. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), the wreck occurred between the Couchville Pike and Stewarts Ferry Pike interchanges.

In a report released by the THP, Jackson was not wearing a seat belt when the crash unfolded. As a result of injuries sustained in the incident, he was taken to the hospital. The driver of the tractor-trailer, Oxius Lucien of Florida, was not injured in the wreck, and authorities say he was buckled in when the SUV entered his lane of travel…
