NJ and Long Island Recover from Nor’easter Damage

Communities in New Jersey and Long Island are working to recover from the recent nor’easter that caused significant coastal flooding and tree damage. The storm, which impacted the tri-state area, led to the closure of several roads along the New Jersey shore due to flooding. Homes and businesses in areas like Long Beach Island and Manasquan were inundated with coastal water.

On Long Island, strong winds brought down nearly 100 trees, and about 20,000 customers lost power, according to PSEG. The storm also caused numerous delays and cancellations at New York City area airports, including LaGuardia and Newark Liberty, due to adverse weather conditions.

In New Jersey, the town of Sea Bright experienced severe flooding, with some residents trapped in their homes and vehicles lost to floodwaters. Mayor Brian Kelly explained that the northeast wind trapped water in the river, exacerbating the flooding. First responders in Sea Bright rescued around two dozen people when water surged inland during high tide.
