New study shows the cost of replacing Ohio property taxes with higher income taxes

COLUMBUS, Ohio — If you own a home in Ohio, you have probably felt the impact of rising property taxes in recent years.

Now, an Ohio grassroots group wants to get rid of them altogether through a constitutional amendment. Volunteers with the Committee to Abolish Ohio Property Taxes are gathering petition signatures in an attempt to put the proposed amendment on the Ohio ballot in November 2026.
