ARCHDALE, N.C. — Kersey Valley SpookyWoods has been a Halloween tradition for 41 years, attracting more than 30,000 visitors every October. But this year, organizers say some guests are showing up with a confrontational mindset — a sharp contrast to the fun-focused crowds of the past.
Performers say these interactions have led to real injuries. Bree Schaefer, a first-year actor, shared her experience:
“This is not just a job — it’s something we absolutely love. When we’re being attacked and hit and kicked, it ruins it for us and for everyone else. Just remember, we’re human beings. Nobody wants to go to work to get punched in the face.”…
