HOUSTON – Houston police have arrested one man and are searching for a second suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of 35-year-old Angel Chavira on July 5.
The arrested suspect, 48-year-old Octavio Garcia Cruz, is charged with murder in the 184th Criminal District Court. A second suspect, described as a Hispanic male seen wearing a Barcelona soccer jersey, remains at large.
Investigators say Chavira was sitting outside his apartment at 4603 Sherwood Lane around 10:50 p.m. with friends when two men approached him. One of the suspects opened fire, striking Chavira multiple times before both fled the scene on foot. Chavira was rushed to the hospital in a private vehicle, where he later died…
