Mutual of Omaha Tower now tallest building in Nebraska, company says

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The Mutual of Omaha Tower is now the tallest building in Nebraska.

A release from Mutual of Omaha says the completion of the 44th floor of the Mutual of Omaha Tower has made the building the tallest in the state.

The building now eclipses the previous holder for the tallest building, the First National Bank Tower, which currently stands at 634 feet. The Mutual of Omaha Tower is set to top out at 677 feet.

The WoodmenLife Tower, the tallest building in Nebraska from 1969 to 2002, is 478 feet tall.

Mutual of Omaha says construction on the tower is still on track to be completed in the Fall of 2026, reaching some significant milestones in the past weeks:

  • Steel now extends past level 35 on all sides.
  • The tower crane completed the sixth and final jump
  • The final shear core concrete has been pored, completing all vertical concrete work

The release says perforated metal panels are now being placed on the exterior of the parking garage, and the glass exterior of the building is still on its way up…
