SEATTLE — Seattle police are investigating what they describe as a possible hate crime after a violent confrontation at a busy West Seattle intersection left a 71-year-old man injured.
The attack happened Monday afternoon near California Avenue Southwest and Southwest Alaska Street, after police say a man in his 30s confronted the older man who had been removing a sign supporting Gaza from a light pole.
Witnesses told officers the suspect called the victim a “Zionist pig” before headbutting him and knocking him to the ground. The victim, who police confirmed is Jewish, used pepper spray to defend himself, but witnesses say the attacker continued punching him until bystanders intervened…
