Body of Florida Man Identified After Being Recovered from Fatal Girdwood Avalanche

GIRDWOOD — Alaska State Troopers say human remains recovered earlier this month from the site of a massive avalanche near Girdwood have been identified as David Linder, 39, of Florida.

Troopers confirmed Monday that the State Medical Examiner’s Office made the identification, and Linder’s next of kin have been notified.

Linder was one of three heliskiers killed in the March 4 avalanche near the West Fork of the 20 Mile River, about 20 miles northeast of Girdwood. The slide buried the men under as much as 100 feet of snow and debris, making recovery impossible for months due to unstable conditions…
