Defense witness claims Persia Nelson suffered ‘cold stress,’ fought to keep her and her daughter alive

SCHENECTADY — Attorneys in the trial for Persia Nelson are expected to deliver their final arguments Wednesday morning, after which the case of the Schenectady mother accused of causing the death of her infant daughter, Halo, goes to the jury.

The defense rested its case Tuesday, but not before calling two final witnesses, including Ken Zafren, a clinical professor in emergency medicine at Stanford University Medical Center. The other witness was a private investigator.
