Boyfriend allegedly attacks girlfriend during argument over vape

A Lady Lake man was arrested for battery when a deputy found his girlfriend scratched and bruised after an alleged argument turned physical.

A deputy responded to a physical altercation between 21-year-old Riley Wayne Patton and his girlfriend at a home on Circle Drive in Lady Lake, around 12:10 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Dispatch advised that she stated, “Stop hitting me,” during the incident.

Upon arrival, the deputy could hear an argument inside the residence. He knocked on the door and announced himself as a deputy, to which he got no immediate response. The residence instead became silent until Patton opened the door, the report said.

Patton stated his girlfriend was inside but claimed she did not want to come to the door. He initially refused to let the deputy in, saying it was not his house. The deputy explained that he needed to check on the girlfriend to ensure her safety, but Patton continued to refuse and grew increasingly uncooperative, the report said…
