Officials: ROC Airport remains secure following Monday disturbance

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport Director Andy Moore is addressing an incident that occurred Monday involving a contracted private security guard and a non-passenger.

According to Moore, the guard, who is employed through a private firm to handle traffic control, was involved in a personal dispute outside the terminal. Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies, who patrol inside the airport, responded and quickly deescalated the situation. No injuries were reported.

Moore said private security remains responsible for vehicular and pedestrian safety outside the building, while Sheriff’s deputies continue regular patrols inside the terminal and around the airfield as required by federal TSA mandates…
