Canadian boat captain arrested in $200K human smuggling attempt

SAN DIEGO — A Canadian man has been charged with attempting to smuggle two dozen people into the United States by boat off the San Diego coast.

According to a federal criminal complaint, a U.S. Coast Guard ship encountered a vessel captained by Alexander Collie McKenna roughly 15 nautical miles southwest of Point Loma. On board, agents found 23 migrants, not including McKeenna.
