The Amarillo Fire Department responded Tuesday afternoon at 4:43 to a residential structure fire in the 800 block of South Alabama Street. The first unit arrived on scene within five minutes and reported smoke showing from the structure. Crews initiated a quick interior assessment and confirmed that the fire had been knocked down prior to their arrival, with minimal fire extension limited to one area inside the home. One occupant was evaluated on scene by AMR for possible smoke exposure but no serious injuries were reported. The fire was declared under control at 6:12 PM, and all units cleared the scene shortly thereafter. The Amarillo Fire Marshal’s Office responded to investigate.
