Editorial: Derrick Groves’ capture brings long, sad escape tale to its best end

When a Clayton County police dog sniffed out Derrick Groves in the crawlspace of an Atlanta-area home last week, it brought a welcome end to the five-month drama that began when 10 Orleans Justice Center inmates went through a hole in the wall, over a fence and across Interstate 10, leaving behind taunts scrawled on the walls as they fled.

It will likely be months, if not years, before the escape story’s many threads are fully untangled and studied, but at this point, a few things are clear.

First, we are glad that Groves, who is a convicted double-murderer, and his nine compatriots are all now back behind bars…
