Amphitheater plans shelved as Jackson considers future of zoo

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A proposal announced late into former Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba’s second term to build an amphitheater at Livingston Park has been put on hold.

Jackson Director of Communications Nic Lott confirmed the city has shelved the proposal “while we contemplate the future direction of the zoo.”

In April, the city, under Lumumba announced the amphitheater, touting it as a “step forward in our ongoing efforts to revitalize the Jackson Zoo and create new opportunities for residents and visitors.”…
