SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — It’s been a busy several days for the Blue Room Comedy Club.
Social media videos from up-and-coming comedians expected to appear at the downtown Springfield club are calling out the club for canceling shows, not paying talent, and being tough on refunds.
“Don’t buy tickets to the shows at the Blue Room in Springfield, Missouri. I’m still on their website, but the shows are canceled. I’m not going there. The club doesn’t pay. They do the whole bait and switch show up, you do your work and then they don’t pay you or they give you a check that’s just written in crayon and not real. So don’t support that club,” comedian Heather Shaw posted on TikTok. “Don’t buy tickets to the shows. Don’t buy tickets to my shows. If you did buy tickets, I’m very sorry. I’ve heard it’s hard to get a refund. I’m so sorry. That can’t be legal to not issue refunds for a valid reason. The shows are canceled because they don’t pay the people that they hired to do work there. Let me know if you have any trouble getting a refund.”…
