‘No Kings’ Demonstrations Rise Nationwide, Including Downtown San Antonio and Nearby Towns
On Saturday, October 18, communities across the United States will take part in the ‘No Kings’ Day of Peaceful Action, a massive nationwide protest uniting millions of Americans in nonviolent defiance of authoritarianism. The movement, led by a broad coalition of civil rights, labor, and environmental organizations, calls for the restoration of democratic principles and the defense of civil liberties.
The October mobilization builds on the success of the June 14 Day of Action, which drew an estimated five million participants across all 50 states. Organizers say this next wave of protests will send a unified message: America belongs to its people—not to kings, not to dictators, and not to those who wield power without accountability.
San Antonio Prepares for Peaceful Demonstration
Locally, San Antonio will join the nationwide movement with a peaceful gathering at Travis Park (301 E. Travis St.) from 4 to 6 p.m., hosted by SATX Indivisible and 50501 SATX. The march will begin at 5 p.m., uniting residents around the shared belief that democracy is worth defending.
